Engineered wood is a layered product made of a thin layer of hardwood on top of a base of high-quality plywood. This flooring is durable, but engineered wood is not necessarily comparable to solid wood. Because the surface is thin, it can chip if stressed. Engineered hardwood has the ability to hold up to limited moisture, which is a bonus in durability.
